zoetrope |ˈzō-ēˌtrōp|  noun

 

A 19th-century optical toy consisting of a cylinder with a series of pictures on the inner surface that, when viewed through slits with the cylinder rotating, give an impression of continuous motion.

Assignment

 

Using the materials that you were given, create your own Zoetrope.  Take your time and make sure that you create everything exactly as you see it in the instructions.  Materials will be on the table.  

 

*Be extremely careful with the xacto knives, they are very sharp. 

*Use glue sticks or tape to attach everything, I have found that the glue sticks work the best on the outside and the "film strips", use tape to connect the side to the bottom.

*Experiment with how fast you spin it.

*Use the provided "filmstrip" of the figure walking and create two more strips.

*Don't worry about your artwork, start with something simple like a ball bouncing, a balloon going up off the page etc.

 

 

Extra Credit:  Create a flip book animation using a sticky note pad.  It must be at least 50 images.
